NEW ROSES MAN FOUND

The ongoing saga of the Stone Roses' lineup has taken another turn this month with rumours circulating among the Manchester music scene of the new replacement for former guitarist John Squire. Spokesmen for the band are saying nothing but according to a Manchester daily, the position, which needs to be filled for the prestigious Reading Festival later this month, is being contended for be three Manchester hopefuls, all of whom are connected by playing in similar positions for Mick Hucknall's Simply Red. The likely three are Dave Fryman, Aziz Ibrahim and Sylvan Richardson.

It is claimed by a national music paper that the job is going to Richardson. The said guitarist is an accomplished virtuoso who had previously spent two years in Simply Red, before leaving in 1987 and said of the period playing for the band: "It wasn't as glossy as it seems. I quickly learned that I didn't want those things. I suppose I was a musical snob," according to a Manchester daily.

The Stone Roses will be appearing at the Reading Festival on August 25th.
