FAC 51 THE HACIENDA

PHOTOGRAPHY BY IAN TILTON

To be released to the public for the first time ever as a set of affordable unlimited and limited edition prints.
Release date Monday September 13th 2004

30 recently printed photographs of Manchester's Hacienda. Interior and exterior shots from 1987 and 1990.

These unique photographs capture the energy of a legendary nightclub at its peak; sweat, beats, hooded tops and arms waving in the air. They also capture the beauty and colour of Ben Kelly's world famous design: Fac 51, The Hacienda.

These photographs are now being released for the first time as a run of unlimited 8 x 10 inch prints and a run of limited edition prints at 16 x 20 inches (limited to an edition of 60). All prints come signed and numbered by Ian Tilton. Prints of any image can be ordered at any size up to A1 by special customer request. They can all be viewed and bought at www.iantilton.com

Ian Tilton is famous for his now world-acclaimed photo of Kurt Cobain's tearful release of energy backstage in Seattle 1990 and for his image-defining work with The Stone Roses. Tilton's pictures ooze atmosphere, warmth, honesty, beauty and the visceral power of great Rock 'n' Roll. A youthful Stone Roses as featured on their debut album cover, Morrissey's shirt being torn to shreds, chosen by Moz to be the gatefold image on The Smiths album 'Rank' are just two of Tilton's commissions that are loved by fans and bands alike.

4. bymyside (full version)

11th March 2003

TITD can exclusively reveal that Steve Adj is currently writing a book, the majority of which is based on the Roses.

The book, entitled From warehouse parties to Wembley, predominantly covers the period from the Manchester Flower show in 1985 to Steve's (and Squire's) final gig with the Roses at Wembley, in December 1995.

9th March 2003

Hugh Calder (who recently was selling the rare Roses signed cymbal), is currently selling the following items on ebay:

Mint unplayed Corpses CD autographed by Ian Brown.

The first Ian Brown press photo, signed by Ian.

In Ian Brown related news, Hugh informs me that The Burn, who supported Ian last year, have released their first single, Drunken Fool.

28th February 2003

Ian Tilton has informed TITD that NME are currently compiling a Manchester music NME Original edition:

"It's predominantly about The Roses, Happy Mondays and The Charlatans and will have a photo of Ian Brown on the cover. It will be out at the beginning of April." (Ian Tilton, speaking to TITD).

Ian, who photographed the Roses at their peak, will be forwarding a number of photos of the band for the publication.

23rd February 2003

Hugh Calder, Robbie Jay's drum tech with the Roses and now tour-production manager with Ian Brown (and who admits to putting up drums for Inder Goldfinger, Simon and Maxi), is selling an extremely rare item on ebay (username 'bolshoiboy'). He still looks after Inder Goldfinger and the various drummers Ian has played with.

This very rare item, a cymbal which has a unique set of signatures, can be viewed and bidded on here.

Speaking to TITD, Hugh explained that the cymbal has a high price because it is the only signed Stone Roses item that is complete. There may exist a few tour programs signed by the four Roses but this cymbal has practically everyone's signature (even Simon Dawson). The inclusion of Nigel Ipinson (who signed very little when with the Roses) and Cressa's signatures makes the item even rarer, as it incorporates signatures from the 89 / 90 and 95 / 96 eras of the Roses.

As far as the Second Coming tour is concerned, there isn't another item to touch it. This is the last of its kind ever. As a live band, they all signed: John, Ian, Robbie Jay, Mani and Nigel Ipinson all signed it in late 1995.

If the item doesn't make the reserve, the seller will keep it. This item will continue to rise in value with the passing of time.

2nd February 2003

Paul Schroeder's exclusive interview with TITD is now available to read. The interview can be read here.

Thanks very much to Paul for taking the time to give this interview. Thanks also to everyone for their questions.
